Every Member In Ministry

Dear Scioto Ridge Disciple of Christ,

When we follow Jesus, we are called to be servants, just as he was. Christianity has never been a “What’s in it for me?” kind of faith. Jesus’ true followers share this central characteristic: they all have a servant’s heart. Their primary question is “How can I serve and bless others?”

As we celebrate our third year as an Every Member in Ministry congregation, I hope that you will find both familiar areas and new areas of service that calls to you. Explore this booklet and ask God to direct you to the ministries most meaningful to you. Every member of our community is invited to make a commitment for one year. If you have an idea for a new ministry, write it on your service commitment form and you will be contacted about your idea in early 2013.

God has equipped us each to serve in specific ways, not to do everything in general. Because each of us is unique, you can serve in certain ways and places that no one else can fill quite as well as you can. I pray that you will find service that will bring you the joy and satisfaction that comes from finding the special, personal kind of service that fits you best, so we may truly be a congregation that empowers all God’s people to fulfill their call as servants of Christ!
