Haiti Relief News

True to our heartbeat of missions through service, many Scioto Ridge members are already asking how they can help in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
  • First, the church has responded with a donation of $5000 to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). UMCOR has a long relationship in Haiti with trained relief workers already on the ground.
  • The children at Scioto Ridge responded to the disaster by making and selling bookmarks. Their efforts raised an additional $253.50 for UMCOR.
  • Members can give through our regular offerings by marking your check "Haiti relief." You can encourage others who may not attend Scioto Ridge to give directly to UMCOR and entering the designation code #418325.
  • Members or classes can begin to assemble health kits and drop them off at the church. Scioto Ridge will be assembling these throughout Lent and will be delivering them to UMCOR. For instructions, click here to go to the health kit instructions.
  • Members can also pray about being part of a short-term mission trip later this year. Methodists have a reputation for being there for the long road of recovery, and our conference missions committee will be consulting with our partners in Haiti over the coming weeks to determine the ways in which we can go and make the most difference later this year.
Most importantly, continue to pray for the people of Haiti and for the many missions workers already there and their families.
